Bill Ballowe leads Epic’s business operations and directs its LMR division. He founded the company in 1988 after a management career focused on electronics. Bill was Manager of EC Wenger Electronics for several years before co-founding Epic Instruments in 1978, a company that designed and manufactured digital logic analyzers and digital waveform recorders. As vice president he developed an international supply chain and distributorship and domestic sales force. He went on to serve as a manufacturer’s rep before partnering with Jim Silke, Jr. to launch Epic Marketing in 1988. Epic has grown to serve seven states and generate $100 million in annual sales for its manufacturers.
Bill married his wife Shannon in 1992. They have two children and live in Danville, California. When he’s not working at Epic, Bill enjoys spending time with his kids.
Jim Silke, Jr. leads the wireless infrastructure division at Epic Marketing. He founded Epic in 1988 after establishing himself as Motorola C&E’s lead sales representative, largely through his trademark focus on collaboration with customers and the development of innovative partnerships.
Jim hails from Oregon, where his family established a two-way wireless radio sales and service business. He learned the electronics and engineering of wireless communications at his father’s side, and absorbed the tenets of customer service from his mother. He earned his degree from Oregon State University and headed to California.
Jim and his wife Molly live in Danville, California and stay busy with their three sons. Spare time is rare, but when it can be carved out, Jim heads out in his plane. He also has a fondness for very fast cars.
Susan is an industry veteran with deep experience in all sales and operations aspects. She has been with Epic since 2009 and covers the Northern California and Northern Nevada territories providing sales and support to Verizon, AT&T and their integrators, distributors and contractors. Before joining us, she worked domestically and internationally in various sales and operations roles for well respected companies including P-Com, Western Multiplex/Proxim and Exalt Communications. Susan earned a degree in Business Administration from Humboldt State University. She lives in the San Francisco Bay Area with her husband and daughters.
Nic Kuning provides sales and support to wireless carriers, contractors, integrators and distributors in Oregon and southwest Washington. He came to Epic in 2014 after nearly a decade working for Action Mobile, Day Wireless and US Cellular. Nic is a lifelong resident of Kelso, Washington, where he enjoys spending time with his wife and three children. He volunteers as a wrestling and boxing coach.
Kim Peterson distinguished himself as a leader in the cellular and small cell industries before joining Epic in 2014. His work with Epic includes a concentration on Sprint and T-Mobile and his territory include the San Francisco Bay Area and California’s Central Valley. He has 24 years of experience in wireless industry sales, business development, marketing, technical and public relations teams. His roles have included Vice President, General Manager; McCaw Cellular Communications; AT&T Wireless Services; Peterson Consulting; and Public Wireless. Kim earned his BA in Marketing, an MBA from California Pacific University. He serves on the Board of Postage One and has served on the Boards of the Red Cross of Ventura County, Boys and Girls Club of Camarillo, and City Impact. Kim enjoys fly fishing, hiking and going to sporting events with his wife.
Nick Toft has always gravitated towards the fields surrounding technology, perfectly preparing him for the tech-centric work at Epic. He serves our southern California and southern Nevada carriers, integrators, distributors and contractors. Nick joined Epic in 2013 after working in business development for Powerwave Technologies. His work there took him around the country securing new accounts and providing exceptional service. He is happy to be back in his native San Diego, where he also attended college, earning a degree in marketing from San Diego State University. In his time off, Nick and his wife spend their summers on the water and their winters in the local deserts.
